Harmon school bus contract manager for the San Juan School District, accepted a plaque for AAA safety maintenance rating on school busses awarded by the Utah Highway Patrol in a ceremony held at the District offices in Monticello last Thursday. San Juan is one of only 13 of the 40 Utah school districts to qualify for the award. The award is presented through an ongoing incentive program to encourage Utahs school district bus garages to excel in their bus maintenance programs. Districts are allowed a maximum of one defect per 20 busses inspected to qualify for an AAA rating. Busses are inspected by the Highway Patrol twice yearly to look for problems in safety maintenance. The AAA rating is given after the spring inspection based al on the average of the reports. Eight troopers from the Utah Highway Patrol are assigned to the inspection program.
