Brochure for spring by Larry W. have the image campaigns underway. They have credibility, believability, endorsing, pompousness of anchors advertising themselves as the purveyors of truth and accuracy on the nightly, mor- already smiling families, a knowledge ning, noon and evening news. Im a little bit cynical about anyone who condenses the world, local and state news into 60 second bits and is presented to the public as one of the oracles of the modern age or an institution of American life. Some of the ads almost imply that news would not happen if a particular anchor1 were not reporting it. Ive decided we could save a lot of time and money if these attractive knowledgeable anchors would run for office. It was brought to our attention that James Nelson was removed from his coaching position at Emery High School. The Executive Council of the Emery County Education Association feels that even though the board has the right to take this action, it should have been handled in a more professional manner. It is a concern to many teachers that James wasnt given a fair hearing before the board prior to the decision that was made. This could set a serious precedent, and this is also a concern. Realizing that even though the board has the right to make specific assignments to its employees, the nature of this particular assignment, and the fact that it impacts so many individuals, special attention and courtesy should have been given in this matter. We also feel that in coaching assignments the coachs record of success should have been given greater consideration. We question if the decision Utah Public According to Utah state law, studded tires may be used only from Oct. 15 through April 15. I was going through some things the other day when I came across an item of local interest. It was the dummy of a brochure, promoting spring activities in Emery County. Naturally, I could tell right away that it was some kind of project certainly nothing to be printed since none of it made sense. It was pasted up and scribbled upon so I concluded that it was some kind of science project or maybe an art assignment for some junior high class. And it was old, too. It must have been prepared ages ago. Anyway, it was amusing. The thrust of this unpublished events in brochure was to promote obscure spring-timEmery County. Because of its age, I'm not qualified (old enough) to say if these things really took place in Emery County or if some kid just made them up to get an "A" on his assignment. After having read through it, I must admit that if it wasn't an exhibition of truth, it was an exhibition of creativity. Here's some of what I found, presumably, actual events fun in Emery County years ago. for spring-tim- ing-a-tho- of the editor and A couple of years writers are. 748-28- 381-250- 4. In 1987 four Emery County families hosted a visitor from Japan for one month during the summer. They were the Lewis Stilson family, Sam Pitchforth family, Bruce Funk and Morris Mower families. We would like to say, thank you for the hospitality they shared. Again this year four Japanese youth will be in Emery County from July 30 to Aug. 24.
