The agenda for the meeting, which begin at 9 30 a m on Saturday, November 16 tn-tlu- announcement and voting intruction, approval of minute from last year, a financial report, a presentation by I'tah Open Land, a report on the water ktudie and a report on the new community center and grant obtained for the community lot. Also on the agenda are the nomination for the four open seats on the board of directors, brief statements by the candidates and an open comment period. The ballots will tie counted after the meeting. The mailing also includes a proxy designation form and an official ballot Four announced candi- dates already appear on the ballot, three served on the hoard this past year (Jake llurnett, Dorr Hatch, and Trish Hawkins) and the fourth candidate, Mike Dege was I'OA treasurer several years ago, Candidates may also announce their candidacy at the annual meeting. All four candidates gave a brief statement and all seem to believe the I'OA is still important even though it has taken a back scat role" in governing the affairs of the valley. Most feel the I'OA is a voice for the nonresident property owner. The I'OA has not collected dues the pust several years since the town began collecting taxes but still collected $1,199.08 from past dues, interest and CD interest and has a current balance of $42,703 03. The two occupants, both from Moab were on their way home aher a day of hunting when the vehicle started to drift off the road to the right and the driver, Danny Fredericks tried to cor- rect and realized there was no steering The Samurai went off the road and then roiled several times. Fredericks suffered from some scrapes and bruises. The passenger, Marcey Hopkins, was transported to Allen Memorial Hospital by ambulance. She was treated for a broken wrist, and a cut to a finger that was also broken. She was released that evening They were both wearing seatbelts. Gourd Festival drew artists from as far away as Canada display. A silent auction The second annual Gourd Festival was held in Castle last weekend. Valley Reliecca Martin, by Organized Boh Ridge and Cris Coffey, the festival features "gourd art. Gourds designed into musical bowls, birds, instruments and boxes, among other creative forms were exhibited. Gourd enthusiasts were on hand to explain the growing and drying process. Gourd art from as far away as Canada and Salt Lake was on allowed people to bid on some of their favorite pieces.
