Team: Musgrave, Sandra Womens Solo The best part of racing solo last year was the 3 a.m. food hallucinations. Around the 7th lap I started craving powdered sugar doughnuts. I thought I had radioed my request in to my support crew the last three laps. Each mile that I pedaled I got more and more frustrated. I was convinced that I could not ride another lap unless I could inhale powdered sugar doughnuts. As I rode into radio range I gave my crew (i.e. my tired patient husband) an earful about those darn doughnuts that Id been pleading for. As I rode into the pit stop, there was a whole bag waiting for me. Contented, I kept riding, completing II laps. It was the next day when my support crew teased me about the fact that I had never mentioned doughnuts until I went ofT on my tirade. The secret to riding through the night: powdered sugar doughnuts AND an understanding husband. |
