Former Sergeant Confesses Shooting of Cronkhite at Camp Lewis in Oct, 1918. J. RoPROVIDENCE, !r. I, March land R. Pothler of Central Falla, formerly ,att army sergeant, today formally admitted that he killed Major Alexander F. Cronkhite, son of Major General Adalbert Cronkhite at Camp Lewie, Wash., October 25, 118. The federal commissioner before whom he was arraigned accepted a plea of guilty to a charge of Involuntary manslaughter. Federal officials refused to discuss the case further, but It la understood that Pothler told them his pistol was discharged accidentally while he was cleaning It. Further arrests are expected, however. Since Pothler was discharged from the army In June, 1911, the department of justice has been searching for him.
