Show tEfre Page B12 Thursday, October 7, 2004 tCtmeg-Jnbepenhe- nt Moab Scouts proved how busy Moab streets are at rush hourdue Webelo Scouts of the 4th Ward Den 3802 counted 159 people and nearly 500 vehicles at the intersection of Center Street and Highway 191 from 5:45 to 6 p.m. The Scouts conducted the survey on September 29. Each carried a clipboard and counted vehicles according to vehicle type. The results were as follows: Lady Red Devils in the thick of Steven Randall counted 108 cars and 24 vans. the race at Orem. Orem meet was a good test for the Grand High Cross Country team team Grand County Red Devils Cross Country team traveled October 2 to Orem to participate in the Orem Kiwanis In- vitational, the states oldest meet. Due to the Homecoming activities, the team was forced to leave at 4 cross-countr- y a.m. On the way to the meet and while the runners slept, Mrs. mother, and guide runner, prepared bagels for the runners. The best part of the finish is that the ladies brought in all of their runners before North Summit had their first runner across the finish line. The Red Devil mens team is still in for a battle at region. They are improving. Their times are getting more competitive. Coach Radcliffe said, We need everybody all along the 3.1 mile race course. We will need the energy of our home crowd to inspire and encourage our runners. No matter the outcome, the coaches are very proud of these young people. They have learned the value of hard work and the never say die attitude. An attitude they can carry with them throughout life. The past week the team has been focusing on mile splits and pacing.
