The latter was rendered by only Scheel and Kerns, using only an acoustic guitar and a single snare, respectively. It came oft' incredibly well. Of the two opening acts, only one bears real mention: I Mother Earth, a quartet, sounds like a mix of equal parts White Zombie and Stone Temple Pilots. The band's drummer is loud, but not overly so. The lead singer's voice ha a remarkable range, but was often incomprehensible. The group ended its set with a number that had many in the audience tapping their feet. Their success is beginning to show : Tuesday's crowd, unlike the crowd Grav ity Kills played to in the same venue less than six months ago. was considerably more constrained and and there were quite a few less shorn, dved or otherwise maltreated heads of hair present. The composition of the crowd brings up an important point: Grav ity Kills is standing at a crucial and exciting junction in its histhe studio tory. Poised to and cut a second album within the next year, the band's growing legion of fans will no doubt be looking for the same cohesiveness that so marks both their initial studio effort and their live performances. While no new material w as presented Tuesday eveninc. the band |
