The 65 members of the Youth Symphony (mostly junior high age) will perform Timpview each Monday after school for two or more hours to prepare music for home concerts and performing tours. Members of the chamber and Youth Symphony groups will present concerts in schools in Southern California in early February. Players in the Philharmonia are learning music to John Rutter's "Requiem," which they will perform in a Sunday evening concert in New York City's Carnegie Hall in April. The composer will conduct the Utah musicians and a university choir, yet to be announced. Dvorak's "Slavonic Dance No. 8" and Offenbach's "Ballet Parisienne." Then they will combine with the chamber strings for "Sleigh Ride" and "A Christmas Festival." Students in the Summerhays Philharmonia (85, high school age and older) will play Mas- senet's "Phaedre Overture," the first movement of Schubert's Symphony No. 9, and a Christmas medley arranged by Gordon Munford.
