The race is for babies at the crawling, not first-eve- walking, stage. They must remain on their hands and knees the entire course, said Chairwoman Patrice Bolen. "As long as they just sit and take a breather and then go back to crawling, that's fine. But if they try to stand then they will be disqualified," she explained. Bolen said there will be as many heats as necessary to accommodate the turnout "just so the babies aren't heaped on top of 50-fo- each other." "We have enough kids in Utah County that we should be able to have some pretty good races. I think it'd just be a hoot." Parents of participants are asked to register their names or the name of a guardian along with the child's name, age, address and phone number.
