Money, armed with 10 years experience in the Utah Legislature, an- nounces his intention to ask Southern Utah County voters to return him to the Senate in November. Sen. Money and Gov. Scott M. Matheson were the only Democrats to survive the Republican landslide in Utah County in the 1980 general election. "I think I've worked even harder since then to maintain the confidence of the voters who helped me win the election last time," the senator said in announcing his candidacy for reelection from District 17. "Utah County needs a strong voice in dealing with existing flood, water and power problems," he said. The senator has played a key roll in each of these . areas and has been particularly active in seeking means to control Utah Lake and the overflowing sometimes rampaging Fork rvier. He has advocated Spanish stabilization Thistle slide so it could serve an important three- vocal supporter of Utah Technical College, ProvoOrem. He has strong feelings about the state's role in providing quality public education. No citizen complaint is too small to command the attention of the senator. "One of my greatest satisfactions, after listening to the problem faced by a constituent, is to lead him to the state agency and help him find satisfaction." Money long has been an outspoken advocate of less expensive public power. He fought a move in 1981 to make it prohibitively expensive for public power to operate federally licensed plants after hydro-electri-c expira- tion of operating permits held by Utah Power & Light Co. That measure was vetoed by Gov. Matheson.
