Utah County Commissioners have asked the county attorney's civil division to research the law concerning property taxes for privately operated schools. The request was made after Verlin Anderson restatus for the American quested Heritage School in Pleasant Grove. Harrison Conover, county assessor, said he had been approached earlier by representatives of the school for status, but at that time the property on which the school was located was privately owned. After the property was transferred to American Heritage Schools Inc., Mr. Conover said, he recommended that Mr. Anderson go before the county board of equalization to resolve the matter. County commissioners said they had also recommended that school officials appear before the board of equalization, but this had not been done. Mr. Conover pointed out that not all schools have status, depending upon the type of operation. In other action, tne county commission rejected a request by Owen Dean, representative of the Utah State Training School at American Fork, to have the county haul clay and fill material for the new Adventure Park at the training school. Kenneth J. Pinegar, commissioner in charge of the county road department, told Mr. Dean that the county has turned down requests from cities in the county for the same type of service. "How could we do that for the state when we must turn down cities in our own county?" Mr. Pinegar asked, pointing out that Pleasant Grove City has threatened to sue the county if any special services are provided out of the county general fund for the Graveside services (or Elmer "Dick" Smith, 00, or 85 W. 700 N., Orem, who died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 1978 at the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City, will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Orem City Cemetery with full military rites under the direction of District 4 of the VFW.
