Many a child has been labeled "dumb" when actually the test was not able to measure him properly. Educators came to understnd that the general type of intelligence test is unfair to certain children. Some children come from homes where the language in which the test is given is not spoken or where there is so little conversation that children learn to use and understand only a few U-- mj It PEANUTS made Alfred Binet up a test known as the Binet Scale. The score that a child made on the test was called an IQ, meaning "intelligence quotient." The Binet Scale was supposed to measure general intelligence. has a mental If a age of 6 years, his intelligence quotient (IQ) is 100. To obtain this figure, the mental age as shown by the tests is divided by the chronological age and then multiplied by 100. (For example, Six divided by six is one, and one times 100 is 100).
