Show Page Sunday, February 29, 1976 HERALD, Provo, Utah, 16-- THE $12.8 Million Hospital Addition Said Proceeding 'On Schedule' Construction on the $12.8 million expansion of the Utah Valley Hospital is proceeding "about on schedule," according to Kent Tolboe of Construction Cc, Tolboe contractors for the expansion. "Naturally, this time of year you lose seme time due to weather problems," he said, adding that the time lost to wet weather had not exceeded what had been anticipated in the construction schedule. The seven - story expansion is due for completion in November, 1977, and Grant hospital Burgon, administrator, said he expects to be in thefiew facility by the end of 1977. Groundbreaking for the addition took place Oct. 7 and Tolboe's crews have been putting in the foundation and concrete supports since then. Mr. Tolboe said work on the concrete and brick outer walls would begin in about 10 days. "Right now I would guess we have about 40 men working on the site but that figure will increase rapidly as the weather clears," he explained. The walls of the 187,500 square foot structure will take a full year to complete, he added. Tolboe Construction Co. was the contractor for the existing Utah Valley hospital's main facility and was the lowest of 10 bidders for the expansion contract. While the construction bid for the new addition was awarded at close to $13 million, Mr. said the cost of Burgon furnishings and equipment will jump the total cost to $17 million. Public pledges for the new addition are close to the goal of $4.5 million.
