(LTD -Johnny Miller, winner of five tournaments this year, is coming off one of his longest layoffs hungry for victory in the 1974 PGA Championship starting Thursday. The blond Californian has played in only one tournament, the British Open, since the U.S. Open in June. Now, following the birth July 30 of a third child, he's ready again. "This is the first time since my rookie PGA in 1970 I've been real interested in the PGA." Miller said. (UPI) -CLEMMON'S, The 1977 PGA Championship was awarded Tuesday to Pebble Beach, marking the first time in 30 years the tournament will be held on the West Coast Bill Clarke, president of the PGA, announced agreement on the site two days before the start of the 1974 championship. The 77 PGA will mark the third year in a row the tournament is staged on a course acknowledged to be among the best in the country after a series of years in which it was moved among rather ordinary courses. Next year's PGA is set for Firestone Country Club in Akron. Ohio, and in 1976 "it will be held at Congressional Country Club in Washington. DC.
