Mrs. Bird, of Provo, is directing plans for the annual Scholarship Tea of the association on Feb. 15 which will provide support for scholarships and grants to young musicians. The tea is being jointly sponsored by the Utah Federation of Women's Clubs and all members of both organizations are being invited to make an individual contribution to the tea. to which the public is invited at the Historical Soci ty Building in Salt like City. unwwwwnw1 ' ; it i i it j r 77 f ebruary brings a resurgence of activity after lull in which most wo.nen indulge. Projects and pl uming begin to emerge with community, civic and service groups leading the way. There are funds to be raised; people to be honored and work to be done. Many of the early Spring events are traditional such as the Provo Ladies of Elks card party and luncheon and the Pancake Breakfast sponsored by Women of St. Mary's on Shrove Tuesday. Others are planned early so that decks will be cleared before Spring housecleaning and vacations. Many are concerned with youth development and encouragement. A tribute to two young men of the community and an outstanding executive marked this week as La Sertoma clubs sponsored the annual Youth Service Awards and the Timp Valley Chapter, National Secretaries held the yearly Bosses Night. i ' : pi the ; 111 CV 1 M0mm , . r J post-holid- La Sertoma Youth Service Awards were presented by the Sertoma Clubs to two outstanding young men at the annual awards ceremonies this week. Kecipiients were Michael 'J. Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen R. Brown of Provo, who was presented his award by the Provo La Sertoma, and Charles Zobell, son of rr. and Mrs. Claude L Zobeil, recognized by the Wasatch La Sertoma. Mr. Brown, a senior at Provo High School, handicapped by the effects of polio, is active in a variety of activities. He served as president of the Junior Class at BY High School, lettered in wrestling, was awarded eight awards by his classmates, was a member of the debate team and thi combined L " YOUTH SEIiVICE AWARDS were presented by the com-bine- d chapters of La Sertoma to two outstanding young men of the community this week. Funds from the event are used for the many youth supporting activities of the group which include music and nursing scholarships and a variety other urograms.
