Show Obituaries On a crisp fall day, September 19, 2004, Kenneth W. Tenney reached out ITT' and touched i the heavens and passed thru the veil to the sweet embrace of his eternal sweetheart Vivian. Kenneth was born in Silver City, New Mexico, March 9, 1912 to William Arthur Tenney Jr. and . Emila Cristina Westover. He was the second child of eight siblings. He spent his happy childhood growing up in Casa Grande, Arizona and San Diego, California, where his father', William, was the Branch President of the San Diego California Mission for seventeen ', years. Kenneth has a strong testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints and shared this testimony throughout his life. He served eight missions beginning in 1934 in tbe Central States Mission. During this time Kenneth had 3 assignments where he proselyted without purse or script for several months. Two missions were shared with his wife, Vivian, at the San Diego Mormon Battalion Visitors Center & the Los Angeles Temple. He married hi eternal companion, Vivian Allred from Salina Utah, on Christmas Day 1937. They were sealed in June 1938 at the Mesa Arizona Temple. They raised their family in San Diego, CA. Kenneth and Vivian were inseparable for 55 wonderful years until her death in 1993. Kenneth loved the Gospel and served willingly, faithfully and with great humility in many capacities. He served as a Bishop, High Councilman, Elders Quorum President, Seventy Quorum President and Scoutmaster. For nearly 14 years with a selfless heart and a pillar of strength he shared his tes Larry Kay Peterson Larry Kay Peterson, 60, returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father, and his son, "Cub", on September 20, 2004, from complications of a long bout with heart disease. He was surrounded by his loving family as he slipped into eternity, while at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo. He was born December 5, 1943 in Provb, Utah to Charles Alva and Virginia Ann Petersen Peterson. He married Lois Ann Larsen on January 21, 1965 in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti IDS Temple. Larry owned Peterson Heating and Quality Heating for over 25 years. His favorite place was the great outdoors- - on the Mountains in the Fall, where he was an avid hunter. The rest of the year he was a workaManti-LaSal- holic. He is survived by his eternal sweetheart, Lois ot Eureka; and his four children, Larry Dean (Veronica) of Provo; Daniel John, Bridget Ann Mott, and Justin Lawrence, all of Eureka; four grandsons, Joseph, Stephen, Zack and Tristan, one granddaughter, Ashley; a brother, Edward Keith (Connie) of Springville; three sisters, Colleen Clayton (Rex) of Idaho; Peggy Shaw (Craig) of Maplet on; and Tamara Faulkner (Jerry) of Springville. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Kevin Lloyd Peterson, a granddaughter, Makayla Ann Mott, and by a brother, Alva LaDell Peterson. Larry loved everyone unconditionally. We will miss the twinkle in your big brown eyes and your sweet smile. Your love will forever warm our hearts until we meet again. With his passing, others will receive the gift of life. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 25, 2004, at 1100 a.m., in the "new" Santaquin Stake Center, 45 S. 500 W. Santaquin. Interment, Orem City Cemetery. y 6-- 8 . Gerald Ray Knight Gerald Ray Knight, son of Max and Kolene Knight and the late Knight, passed away September 21, 2004. Jerry was born on October 20, 1952 in Payson, Utah and was raised in Springville. ' He graduated from Springville High School in 1970. Jerry married Margaret Arnold on May 5, 1979. They were later divorced. Together they have three children. Jerry proudly served with the Elks, working faithfully in the Sub for Santa program. He enjoyed camping, hunting and spending time with family. He was a proud father and grandfather. Jerry is survived by his children: Monica, Chelsea and J R., all of Salt Lake City; his grandson, Preston; father and stepmother: Max and Kolene Knight; brothers: Ron (Sue) Knight of Salem and Jay (Charlene) Knight of Springville; and sisters: Sandy (Kent) Boswell and Susan (Jesse) Burr of Houma, LA. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert and his mother Melba. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 24, 2004 at 11 a.m. in the Hobble Creek West Stake Center at 555 South 600 East in Springville. HERALD A private liberal arts school officially announced this week . the purchase of the private park once owned by the Geneva Recreation Association. Meridian School, a college preparation school with an emphasis in the arts, bought the property in Provo nearly from the Utah Valley State College Foundation Inc. The two groups agreed not to disclose the purchasing price, but the appraised value was $525,000. Meridian is now raising funds to build a new school and will break ground when it has raised $2.5 millioa School officials hope to begin construction this winter and have the school open in fall 2005. ' The school needs a new home because it is currently leasing the building, the old St. Francis Church in Provo, which has been purchased by a developer , said Meridian Headmaster David Hennessey. The purchaser plans to develop the property within the next year. "We are only here through this school year, he said. School board members spent two years trying to find an existing building for the school, but Hennessey said they are happy with the GRA park. "It's a beautiful location, the backdrop of the mountain and the trees and the green space," he said. Hennessey said the park location will help add to the school's curriculum. Assistant City Attorney Steve Garside said police are held at the same standards, "if not higher," as residents. Police Lt. Kevin Allred said the officer and the German shepherd, Rex, were jogging around Layton High School's track at 6:50 a.m Saturday. "Each time they went around the track, the dog would go over into the trees, and he kept going over there," Allred said.
