For from sure, the band's biggest hits "Time For Me to Fly" and "Take it on the Run" to "Keep on Loving You" and "One are all represented. Lonely Night" Longtime fans of the band, however, will be rewarded with old album nuggets like "Golden Country" and "Lightning," not to mention the oddball instrumental, "Flying Turkey Trot." The album also includes a previously unreleased version of "Son of a Poor Man," featuring "essential" REO frontman Kevin Cronin who had originally recorded the song with the band bethree-albubanish-- , fore an ment. All lineups of the band, which continues touring today, are represented. The mostly instrumental band has been called everything from "classical post-rocto "sub versives with a cello," but the description band members feel is most accurate is "mature enough to disregard trends and do what they like." For their latest album, released in 2003, Rachel's asked for recordings of sounds that have brought meaning to the lives and environments of their friends and fans, and then they made music with them. It makes for a moving and beautiful, yet unique, earful. "Last Things Last," the only track with vocals, is my favorite. The experimental album is an eloquent experience unlike any other. Although a prolific songwriter, Crow does include two covers. Her strong voice rendid puts life in a tion of "Mississippi," by a truly great songwriter, Bob Dylan. And (sorry GNR fans) when Crow puts a woman's soul into Guns N" Roses' "Sweet Child O' Mine," the song takes on new life.
