The project oVrsorip-tion- s provide general information: overall scope, work schedule, completion date, and anticipated traffic control measures for the week. Some projects may not be listed due to their relatively short timetable, or minimal impact on traffic. Schedules are subject to change due to weather, equipment problems, or emergency situations The report is available on the UDOT construction information hotline. The report is also available on UDOT website: the http www.srex.state.ut.us In LOGAN CANYON Reconstruction of US-8through Logan Canyon continues. Crews are replacing Burnt Bndge and Lower Twin Bndge. Both traffic bridges are restricted to one-waonly, with a signal at each end directing vehicles across the bridges in alternating intervals. Oversize loads are restricted: the lane is only 10 feet wide. Excavating continues at both sites, causing periodic 1 5 minute closures. Motorists are advised to expect heavy traffic through the Pioneer Day holiday weekend. Up to 30 minute delays may be possible through the oneway traffic sections. Southbound traffic is diverted onto the new median. Starting at 2600 South in Woods Cross, tha southbound outside lane is dedicated to motorists exiting to westbound The two inside lanes continue southbound to Beck Street and into Salt Lake. Actual construction work should begin within a few weeks. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday Daylight Hours Expected Completion: September 1998 3900 SOUTH to 3300 SOUTH Noise wall installation continues on the Sections east bench of northbound of the outside lane are closed during dayhours. Crews continue time, p to northclosing the 3800 South bound Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. The wori being done that requires this ramp to bt closed should be complete by midweek. Watch for barricades indicating lane closures, and for crews and equipment on the shoulders. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday Daylight Hours Expected Completion: August 1997 In PROVO CANYONi UPPER FALLS TO WILD WOOD US-18- 9 SOUTHi STATE STREET 700 EAST OOOO to Reconstruction and widening is essentially complete on 9000 South between State Street and 700 East. Landscaping work continues, watch for brief closures on the shoulders. No lane closures are anticipated. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday Daylight Hours Expected Completion: July 1997 BANGERTEN HIGHWAY EXPANSION! 0000 SOUTH to 12800 SOUTH Work continues on the Bangerter Highway expansion from 9000 South to 12600 South. Crews will begin concrete paving this week. Watch for more construction trucks entering and exiting tha project area. The intersection at 1 1800 South and 3800 West remains closed for construction of tha new bridge of 1 1800 South . This intersection Is scheduled to open by Sunday, Jury 20. Craws wiU begin forming and placing tha now bridge dock this week. Truck crossings are also frequent at 9800 South: watch for brief closures and flagging operations. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday Daylight Hours Expected Completion: Summer 1998 Reconstruction and widening continues on US-18- 9 in Provo Canyon, from Frazier Park to just past the UtahWasatch County line. Current work Includes tunnel construction, drilling, blasting, hauling, and road base preparation. Traffic is flagged through multiple work zores, minute delays. Blasting, causing 15-2- 0 blasts per day, is done between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., causing 15-3- 0 minute delays. The speed limit is reduced to 40 m.p.h. through the project, with 30 m.p.h. advisory speeds along curves and detours. Crews are stabilizing a major slope on the north end of the project, where two slides have occurred this spring. Traffic is reduced to one-wa- y only (directed by a portable signal at each end of the slide area) just east of the Sundance (SR-92- ) turn off. High amounts of water have also damaged US-18just above the Canyon Meadows turn-of- f. Tha northbound passing lane la closed. Motorists are strongly advised to ba aware of these problem areas and drive through the canyon with caution. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday Daylight Hours 9 CONNECTORi EAST BAY BLVD to STATE STREET Construction is about halfway complete on the new connector between East Bay Boulevard and State Street. Crews are constructing two bridges, with the first deck in place on the east end. Placement of the second and third decks continue this week. The traffic signal is being installed at the east end of the connector at US-8and Slate Canyon Drive. The signal is scheduled to be operating by the end of July. Traffic impacts are minimal, except for Kuhni Drive, which has channelizing devices and a detour in place. Work Schedule: Monday through Saturday Daylight Hours Expected Completion: May 1998 US-8- INTERCONNECTION NALS in OREM of 35 SIG- Crews are nearing completion on the project to computerize 35 signals throughout Orem. All of the fiber optic lines, junction boxes and signal controllers are now in place, and crews continue final clean-uwork. The system is scheduled to be turned on this week, followed by some fine softtuning using the new ware. The project is essential complete and paving is complete. 400 Jorth in Lindon is now open and the det jrs have been removed. This project is substantially finished. Paving wat completed on July 10 and most traffic control devices have been removed.
