Recording Industries Music Performance Trust & National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences present NOON CONCERT featuring rz solo presents a point that is important for 1 audiences to recognize: one doesn't necessarily need to know what a piece is about to derive from it a personal meaning or impression. Closing the first act is Loa Mangelson-Clawson'- s playful and Jack Went Up..., a kind of mating game cfk JJ where the two dances react off of one another, more then they interact with each other. Beginning the sec- - ond act is Susan McLain's duet Unrestful Space. Showing us the deterioration of a relationship between a couple who is too used to one another, McLain has her dancers move around the stage with a cold familiarity, accented by a stark white bench in the center of the stage and Jon Scoville's synthesized composition. As the couple, Amy Pope and Patrick Damon Rago demonstrate excellent physical control as well as a relaxed indifference which compliments McLain's concept. Closing the concert is Delia her to tribute Davidson's Three, a unique Woodbury's the take on female ancestors love triangle. The talented group of dancers interesting modern dance. This season PDC's fall concert, finishing its run at the Marriott Center for Dance this weekend, is no exception as artistic director Ford Evans has brought in myriad of exceptional pieces for his company to perform. Opening the concert is Joan Woodbury's Threads of Dreams, an odd choice con- sidering that a different ver- sion of the piece was performed by Dance Company just two weekends But ago. Next on the program is Donna White's solo Under My Skin, 7 Listen. White demonstrates tremendous strength through her dancing and the physical movements and the underlying emotional reactions of their characters. Set to the music of Strauss and Mozart, Davidson has tashioned a clever work which is energetic, ironic, and perhaps even sad. Costume designer Steve Rasmussen has ioned appropriate designs for each piece, and light- ing designer John P. Duffy continues to light PDC's pieces with ingenuity and style. When done well, dance can be thought provok ing as well as entertaining, and PDC's fall concert is just. that. Kudos to artistic director Ford Evans for a show that works with the audience, instead of in spite of it. J Mm. 13 Billy . fash-danc- e, ttlffftl44Mflf (fttliftlltt ' tQM a :aDflDB) SD0Q).
