The orchestra will perform special arrangements of Aragonaise and Danse Boheme from Bizet's Carmen Suites. These wonderfully exciting arrangements were adapted for the orchestra and five pianos by Jane Tan. Young piano soloists will be Mary Nielson, Libby Nielson, Jamie Ellison, Tricia Ellison and Tamara Sweeney. The orchestra will also perform Telemann Viola Concerto. Tyler Hokanson, a senior at Proto High School, will be the soloist. Tyler d will perform on a viola for him by his father, Devon. Other selections during the concert will include Adagio by Tomaso Albinoni, Romanze by Jean Sibelius and Suite in F for Strings by C. Hubert H. Parry. The orchestra is comprised of hand-crafte- advanced string students, ages 12 through 18, who reside in the Utah Valley area. Lois Stout is artistic director and conductor of the orchestra, Kathy Wilson is general manager and Kelly Wilson serves as business manager. Section coaches are Lois Stout, Lisa Brodie, Dianna Rhodes and Sariah Mourik. The concert is free and the public is invited to attend. Choral Society Guild to host fundraiser The Utah Valley Choral Society Guild is presenting "An Evening of Rhapsody" for their annual fund raiser on Saturday, April 19, 1997, at the Sorenson Student Center Ballroom on the UVSC campus. Popular singing entertainer Gordon Harkness will be the enter- tainment for the evening. Harkness has been a member of a number of highly successful singing groups including the Young Americans, Ray Charles Singers and Doodletown Pipers. He was also the lead singer for the present day Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller Orchestras. Most recently, he has been a featured performer on many luxury cruise ships. A native of Los Angeles, Harkness has lived in Provo for the past 18 years. Entertainment will also include the Gold Award Ballroom Dancers performing to Brahms waltzes sung by the Choral Society. The public is invited to this special event. Tickets are $15 and must be purchased by April 1 1. Polly Returns to.BYU After a standing-roo- m only pre- miere and more than 80 performances in six states, the musical Polly returns to BYU's Pardoe Drama Theatre April 2 at 7:30 p.m. Exploring the life of one pioneer woman from her teenage years to the trail westward and her unique spiritual journey, the play was written by Steven Kapp Perry and is performed by Perry's wife, Johanne Frechette Perry.
