During 1961, several important changes have been made in the library to add to its convenience and efficiency. Early in the year some of the book shelves were in such a way that much needed space for books was made available. This improved the librarian's work area and the circulation desk. It made it possible for the librarian, Mrs. M. W. Wathen, to supervise the library more easily. A door was cut directly into the adult reading room, making it much more accessible and convenient Changes in Library Board There have also been changes in the library board during 1961. The term of Mrs. Elmo Eddington expired and she retired from the board, Mrs. Eddington had served faithfully and well for several years. Her interest in the library has always been manifest and she deserves the thanks of the entire community for her faithful service. Russell Innes was appointed by the city council to take her place. Although he has served only a few months he is proving a very interested and able board member. Mrs. Ward Webb, who had been appointed to fill an unexpired term has consented to continue her duties as a board member. The board now consists of Paul Hanson, chairman; Elwood Hunt, Russell Innes Mrs Ward Webb, Mrs. George Bone, Mrs. Lavon Young and Mrs. M. W. Wathen as librarian. Book Lending Increases Mrs. Wathen reports a total of 11398 books circulated during 1961 to Nov. 30. This compares to 10,855 for a comparable date in 1960, an increase of 135. The Snow Springs DUP Camp Has volumes donated. New membership cards issued amounted to 246. Large Roster National Book Week The librapy held open house in April in observance of National Book Week. Last spring! our enrollment dropped due to families from our school area having to move to make the new super highway. The enrollment has now increased until it is up to about the same as it was when school began one year ago. The' students are having the opportunity of observing first hand the construction of the new highway, as it takes a part of the southwest corner of our playground. This year special study is being made of the physical education program and recomendations for an improved program have been submitted to the district administration for their approval. At the present time we are working ways to make the tea- ing with the request by President Kennedy that we try to develop more loyal patriotic Americans. Those who have been to our school recently have noticed the school name that was added last fall. At the present time Ernest Reimschiissel, professor of landscape design at the Brigham Young University, is planning a landscaping plan for the school. It is planned that Arbor Day this year will be a memorable one for the students as they help in the planting of trees and shrubs around the building and grounds As we celebrate this Christina?
