Many of the homes purchased by the state were and moved to new locations in Number 17 Lehi. Many people built new homes. Some moved out of town, but happily most people elected to remain in Lehi. The movement of homes and work on the freeway has changed many of the old familiar land marks of town, you can t say on "Dave Roberts Corner and mean 1st east and 9th north any more. Directions to people have to be given differently now The loss of many of these homes was a sentimental loss. But it has contributed somewhat to the economy of Lehi for 1961. The change was beneficial in many respects. The power system in the freeway area had to be New poles, lines, transformers etc. were placed. This has added to the efficiency of the power service. It will make power outages in the area less frequent. Th water and sewer systems were changed. Additional lines were laid for future growth. More ure hydrants were added for fire protection. In the coming year as work progresses the crossings will become more apparent. Their utility will become apparent also. The freeway is still looked upon with mixed emotions in spite of all the sales talk.
