When you get to the corner, which separates the smoking and nonsmoking sections, you'll notice the array of ordinary objects used for ceiling decorations. Each section of the restaurant has a theme. One section has hats hanging from the ceiling, while another has fish prints on the walls. The favored section is the "Tie Room," where the most unusual ties are hung from the ceiling. The ties were collected through a special promotion on Father's Day several years ago. If your father came in with a tie unique enough to be part of the George, Utah. Also part of the decor are giant thumbtacks that provide the appropriate spot for hanging your hat and coat. Be careful of the papier-mSch- e- walkers, near the end of the restaurant. Their tight-rop- e shadows create the image of female wrestlers mean female wrestlers on the window blinds. If you don't pay attention, you will miss the deck of cards scattered all over the ceiling. Amidst the typical beach and flippers is the scuba diver clad in the wear of usual snorkling gear, hanging right over one of the biggest tables. Image looking up and seeing that! He is accompanied by a life guard who just happens to be a shark dressed in shorts. The table and chairs are quite comfortable and the light is just red-flower- ed soft enough for the finishing touch. When at last you stop looking at all the decor, and look at the menu, you will notice that the general outlook is through the eyes of every Far Side character we all know and love. The menu does contain a wide variety of dishes, while still taking on the role of "main attraction" due to the small comical characters displayed on every page. Ordering takes a long time if you read and watch everything at Shenanigan's, but if you can tear yourself away from the cartoons, there is something for every taste. Among the many delights on the menu is "buffalo wings" and a variety of Mexican and Italian dishes, as well as burgers and fries. On the other end of the spectrum are the full meals, which come with soup or salad and a sourdough roll. The restaurant only serves Coke products. And if you want fresh ground pepper on your food, it is more than happy to accommodate you. All in all, the food was quite fulfilling and very tasty. Although this restaurant is a little more expensive that what our student pocketbooks are used to, overall the prices are very reasonable considering you are in an "upper class" restaurant. Steak is anywhere between $8.95 to $11.5, depending upon the cut and size of the portion, while chicken was in the price range of about $8.50. All tropical drinks and anything from the bar was an average of $2.50. The desserts are about $2.95 and just looking at them could make anyone gain five pounds. But what meal would be complete without cheesecake topped with mounds (seriously, mounds) of strawberries? Either they are nowhere to be found or they are hanging around the entire time. Most will admit the service at Shenanigan's was just about right. The waitress gave me ample time to read (and laugh at) the menu and decide. She was only there to check with me a few times instead of the usual 30 times during the course of the meal. She also went out of her way to make everyone in the section happy. There is a down side to this restaurant the parking. What is called the parking lot is a slab of black top with plenty of pot holes, which is a pay lot sporting the name Paradise Parking. Be sure to get a validation.
