The Rookie has its moments, but didn't we get enough action and sex over the summer? 'Us the season. A time of peace and joy and holiday cheer. And most importantly, 'tis the holiday movie season when all the good films come out. So here is a list of some of the better films that will be out within the next few weeks; you know, that time when you have no homework so you have nothing better to do with your time or your money. The Rookie Directed by Clint Eastwood Starring Clint Eastwood, Charlie Sheen, Raul Julia, Sonia Braga and Laura Flynn Boyle Released today Tim Burton, who has always given us refreshingly original characters in his movies, now lets us see what he can do with Depp as a boy who has metallic shears instead of hands. Depp is taken in by a caring Avon lady (Wiest) who naturally has a beautiful blonde daughter for him to fall in love with (Ryder). As in all of Burton's films, themes of alienation and fitting into society should figure Eastwood plays a grizzled old cop who is teamed against his will with a rookie (Sheen). They don't get along until Eastwood is kidnapped by the criminals they are persuing (Julia and Braga). Sheen is left without his partner, so he goes around tearing L.A. into pieces in an attempt to this into prominently contemporary fable. Almost an Angel Directed by John Cornell Starring Paul Hogan and Linda Kozlowski Released on Dec. 14 Crocodile Dundee's back. This time Hogan is a small-tim- e thief rescue Clint. And it won't be anything like Bird on a Wire or Air America. Gibson is certainly a huge draw, and he's been begging box-offi- ce for a chance to do some real acting.
