Please forgive my stupidity, but what problem could God the All Loving have with any joyful, loving relationship between consenting adults? Shouldn't our Loving Shepherd be more concerned by those of His flock who cnoose, for example, to kill one another7 The letter implies that, by definition, God might be considered a "homophobic." If we may define homophobia as fear or hatred of homosexuals, does this mean God the Father fears or hates His own children? But I am most puzzled by the suggestion that God the All Forgiving is deliberately killing homosexuals in fact have heavy state intervention in their through AIDS. If He is infallible, we must rule out the Latin America, but under Allende's socialist regime the latter. But I am still troubled. Again, forgive my ignoeconomy fell to pieces long before the CIA engineered rance, but what does God the All Merciful have against his assassination. If is also rather odd that Mr. Hunt these innoceni victims of TRUE perversion? In my humble opinion, AIDS doesn't seem like much should disparage the introduction of capitalism into of a godsend. Lestmmthe stale argument redistribution of wealth will create new incentives uiai will somehow make up the productive shortfall, bear in mind that this only means that the nature of investment has changed, but nonetheless the total amount available for investment has declined. In practice, production is stymied in socialist countries, 'democratic' or otherwise, relative to the degree of their collectivisation. It must be emphasized that the countries Mr. Hunt denoted as "capitalist" dictatorships a Andrew Hunt's assertion ("Capitalism doesn't spell freedom," Tan. 3) that political freedom and socialism are compatible is absurd, if only for the reason that socialism aoesnt worK in tneory or practice. Political freedom essentially means "the consent of the governed" and principally relates to the extent to which government revenue is voluntarily provided. As such, it is compatible only with capitalism, which entails individuals making voluntary arrangements in the economic sphere, uncoerced by any third party. Mr. Hunt's straw characterizations ofboth capitalism and socialism illustrate his failure to grasp what conditions are necessary for "human needs" to be met in the first place. Expropriation of wealth from the individuals who created it in order to establish a socialist state provides about as much incentive for production as the incentive a hold-u- p man inspires in his victim. It is a matter of blackmail: Though ironically in this case it is the individual's "efficiency" as a producer, rather than a defect, which makes him vulnerable; if he produces nothing, then he has nothing that can be used against him. The socialist parasite says that he will only "take a little bit," knowing that if he threatened to take it all then the individual would produce nothing. The individual knows that if he keeps on producing as much as before, then the parasite will only have incentive to gradually up the ante until he's taken it all anyway. Hence, production inexorably declines and the parasite, in order to maintain the same 'share' of the wealth as before, must take an even larger slice of a smaller January SATURDAY - January 28, 1989 - 8:00 a.m. WHERE: Francis A.
