"We ar,e starting a pilot project to see if children from single parent families need a different preschool A experience than children from traditional families," explains Dr. Gerald Adams, assistant professor of family and human development. "We will do some research with these youngsters but they won't even be aware of it. They will be integrated into the regular preschool program with other youngsters. In a sense, all kids in the child development lab program are used for research. However, it's all disguised so the children never know it. They think they are games." just playing The program is licensed and is excellent preparation for public school. There is no psychological testing nor manipulation ot any kind. According to Adams, children from widowed, divorced, single or even families where one parent is gone because of military or other service, are eligible. The Child Development Lab preschool program begins Fall quarter. The children will be in the program for two quarters. Fall and Winter, Monday through Thursday. Morning or afternoon sessions are available though Adams would prefer having the youngsters in the morning. Cost of the program is $30 per quarter which is the same for all youngsters in the preschool sessions. Children must be between 3'2 and 5 years of age. They can turn 5 any time this year.
