A j- ' ll by Charles Freeman Ogden Air Logistics Center Public Affairs There is currently a vacancy for a Hill AFB representative on the Restoration Advisory Board. The RAB is a committee of community members, environmental regulators, local government representatives, Hill AFB representatives and other parties, whose main purpose is to advise Hill on community concerns regarding environmental cleanup projects conducted under the Air Force's Installation Restoration Program. Additional responsibilities of RAB mem- bers include: Providing advice to the installation and federal and state regulatory agencies. Addressing important issues related to cleanup, such as scope of studies, cleanup levels, waste management, and remedial action alternatives. Identifying proposed project require ments. Recommending priorities among sites or projects. RAB members also review and comment on technical documents and reports. ir Members serve as a liaison between the community and the Air Force, and as such, are required to be available to community members to exchange information and concerns. RAB members serve voluntarily, withr out compensation, for a renewable term. On average, RAB members devote at least four hours per month to their RAB responsibilities. The member should be available to attend all meeting which are usually held quarterly in the evening. The next meeting is Oct. 30. Applicants should understand and be capable of representing the interest of base residents and employees. An application must be completed by September 25. Both military and Department of Defense civilians employed at Hill AFB are eligible. Applications will be reviewed and applicant selected by the RAB.
