Since SC is responsible for the base computer systems, 75th CEG called only after obtaining the lowest price from available commercial vendors and were given a CSRD and a "control number" to make these purchases. These licenses were received and updated to the base GroupWise listing in one day. The 75th CEG had requested previous short-notic- e licenses through Air Force procurement channels using the Air Force Form 9. The entire purchase took up to 18 calendar days and several follow-u- p phone calls. The cost of processing one Form 9 is approximately $29 to $45. As another step to improve service, the directory clerk has recently finished an audit of telephone numbers to make sure the numbers in the base locator are accurate. This will help ensure the operators get the right number the first time. Finally, the Communications Squadron is examining putting the base telephone numbers on the World Wide Web. This provides easier access to updated numbers for the callers and might reduce the overall number calls handled by the operators. It is because of this provision he doesn't rotate on weekends. Regarding the amount of time he spends on union business, I refer you again to the MLA, Article 4. That article lists all the functions for which official time is authorized. Requests for official time must be made to and approved by the supervisor. There is no contractual provision requiring union stewards to have designated parking spaces. Such an arrangement may be negotiated on an individual basis. Global Power and Reach for America.
