Show May 2 1 , Pictures valuable procedures. We are working to streamline these jk Why won't the information manage- ment section allow us to use pictures in our quality digests, quality grams or the reports quality departments put out? It seems a shame not to be able to utilize the equipment we have to enhance our articles with pictures. They flatly turn the print job down if it has any pictures in it at all. Can we get the policy changed so we will be able to put out good quality papers that we can take pride in and everyone can appreciate and enjoy? For a considerable time, the people in IM 1 have been working with headquarters (Air Force Logistics Command and Air Force) to change policies and allow printing of reports, grams, digests, etc., with a quality theme using the latest technologies available and include pictures. This approval was just received, and the policy will be further detailed in the new Air Force Volume 8, due out in June. A draft copy of these new turn-iprocedures has been presented to the Hazardous Material Working Group. There are two other initiatives under way to help improve our hazardous material program. First, a hazardous material cell has been organized as a single focal point for hazardous material ordering, research and control. This new operation is located in Bldg 830, Bay E. Second, a hazardous material dispensing facility is under construction in Bldg 256. One of the services this new facility will provide is to accept excess hazardous materials and try to find a source to reutilize them or, if required, process the turn-in- . The facility is scheduled to start operating in October. As you mentioned, environmental programs are very important, and the control of hazardous materials will be the cornerstone of the Hill AFB pollution prevention program. That regulation is Air Force Regulation 77-Chapter 13, page 13-Smoking, Eating, and Drinking. It states: "The use of tobacco and alcohol reduces your ability to see. Eating and smoking impair your senses. Never eat or smoke when operating a vehicle and don't drink alcoholic beverages eight hours prior to or when driving." This quote does not address passengers in the vehicle, only the operator. However, it has long been base policy that when vehicles carry more than one person, the vehicles are treated as any other base facility and become areas unless posted to the contrary. Each employee is hired to work effectively with the others in his or her work center to produce quality products and services. If we do not all work as a team to continually improve our processes, we will not be competitive and will not be able to maintain our workload here at Hill. This program also provides a way for management to recognize team progress and accomplishments. I appreciate your interest and encourage you to use your good ideas to continue the improvement of our processes to better compete for workload. en-J"- 8! However, Air Force Regulation i25-1requires the operator to possess a valid state, overseas command, host nation or international driver's license to operate a motor vehicle on a military installation.
