Show HILL TOP TIMES -- Friday, April 4, 1986 on Action Line is your opportunity to keep Hill AFB a great Air Force base, When you call Ext. 77000, your comments will be recorded and staffed through the responsible agency for action. It is requested that you give your supervisor and chain of command the opportunity to work with you in an- - count here Suggestions An article in the Hill Top Times, Feb. 28, fk V 1986, titled "System Locates Best Quali- fied Job Candidates," stated suggestion awards are not creditable towards your ranking in the promotion system. It was my understanding that they do count in the promotion system. Would you please clarify this? The article in the Hill Top Times had erroneous information in the answer concerning suggestion awards. At some bases, suggestion awards are not used in the Promotions and Placements Referral System as a sort priority. The article in the Hill Top Times was taken from an interview at Kelly AFB, Texas. At Hill AFB suggestion awards are part of the sort priorities in PPRS. A suggestion award of $10 or more is two points and a suggestion certificate award is one point. Points will be given for awards received during the preceding two-yeperiod. Thank you for your concern which has called attention to this erroneous information and hopefully will clear up the confusion regarding A ar suggestion awards. Traffic problem remedied The intersection at 11th and 6th Streets is Vir a dangerous one. As you go west on 6th Street leaving the base, the yellow line dividing the east and west lanes of traffic runs directly into the passing lane that comes up the hill ' from the truck route. I think the yellow line should be repainted from the railroad track to the western side of the intersection at 11th collisions. In these cases, concern for fairness to all employees requires a thorough review of the records and all available sources to determine what, if any, credit should be given. At times an employee may feel frustrated at what is perceived to be a delay or lack of cooperation, particularly when the final decision is not what the person had hoped. It is our policy to provide quality service to all our customers and to treat people as important individuals. Like most organizations, we have to prioritize work to accomplish our mission. This does result in conflicts on occasion. made Accuracy attempt are to our encouraged QWe keep employee current and our work experience But after expending a lot of time and updated. effort doing just that, I feel I didn't receive much cooperation from Personnel. They seem to place a very low priority on this type of work. Why does it take them so long to process these actions and why do they question their validity? Problem with portraits have had Numerous actions are processed in the A sonnel Data System each month entering or amending experience claimed by employees Per- f Every year they always pictures of the base queen and her attendants on display, in Bldg. 180. I was disappointed to find only empty frames when I visited the building recently. Are there plans to display pictures of lt for federal and nonfederal work. This results in contacts with hundreds of people. The Civilian Personnel Branch is genuinely concerned that employee records are complete and accurate and this year's royalty? The new royalty did have their portraits taken for the display in Bldg. 180. However, the base photo lab no longer has the capabilities to finish the portraits for the display and we had to have someone else finish them. Then the display itself had to be taken down for the remodeling of the front entrance to Bldg. 180. Finally, our second attendant resigned. Since the Hill AFB Photo Lab cannot support us with portraits any longer, we could not have a portrait taken of the new second attendant. The decision was made to display only the queen's and first attendant's portraits and they are now on display. that employees receive full credit for all meaningful work they have done. To ensure accuracy and fairness, there must be a firm basis for all experience that is credited, as it may have a bearing when competing for positions and also in a reduction-in-forc- e situation. Sometimes the Personnel Office is asked to honor documents that are at variance with other employee-provideinformation that is already in the record. A frequent example is an attempt to raise the level of prior work in the private sector that the employee had once described as routine and low level to a kind of complex work that is work is performed on base.
