However additional equipment was purchased for two reasons. First, it was recognized the equipment would be beneficial to pilots, although its use is not restricted to pilots. Secondly, the additional equipment would help alleviate an already overcrowded weight room at the Hess Fitness Center. Scotty Wilson, chief, MWR, says to his knowledge this is the first time any base MWR division has put fitness equipment on the flightline. Tonight's big event is scheduled to begin promptly at 7 p.m. at the Stephenson Memorial Theater. This evening's show will feature three acts in the dance competition, eight acts in the male vocalist division, five acts in the female vocalist division and in the instrumental group division, three acts in the duet division, and four people will compete in the instrumental solo division. Potpourri, comedy, and master of ceremonies will all feature one contestant each. Cordell Ferry, the Director of the Thornton Recre ation Center, says there's a lot of good talent this year; however, the competition in the male vocalist category will be tough to judge as usual. Each contestant will have only four minutes to perform their act. Contestants who go over four minutes are penalized one point for every second they are over the limit. Trophies will be awarded to the first and second place winners of each category. A "Best of Show" trophy will be awarded by judges to the contestant who receives the highest number of points and there will be a "Crowd Pleaser" trophy given to the contestant who gets the most audience response. Both military and military dependents will compete in the show tonight. The contest is expected to last about 90 minutes. Wilbert "W.T."
