This procedure eliminates the middleman, supply- ing spare parts to the government at a significant savings. It will also enable the Air Force to purchase repair parts and replenishment stocks at reduced costs. Col. Thomas Roff, director of Contracting and Manufacturing, described the acquisition technique as "the way. of the future" in purchasing spare parts. The technique was first applied in the deployment of the 6 fighter aircraft. The concept is also being used in the Peacekeeper program, where savings will be in the thousands.
