Orrin L. 1 sqjy(i(dlirn) sollosii's Stoddard 954th Radar Evaluation Squadron Two noncommissioned officers and an airman were recently selected as 1954th Radar Evaluation Squadron's Outstanding Professionals of the Quarter from April 1 to June 30, 1984. Outstanding Senior NCO MSgt. Gary R. Wilson, a radar evaluation operations supervisor, was chosen as Outstanding Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter. He supervises the collection arid analysis of flight data in support of heavy ground radar systems evaluation throughout the free world. ' Before leaving the site, he monitors the development of test flight routes, defines training objectives, and coordinates actions with all agencies concerned with the evaluation. He is also the Unit Plans NCO. During an evaluation in Key West, Fla., Sergeant Wilson achieved a Site Lead Operator rating even though it was his first full station evaluation. When flight testing was delayed due to maintenance problems, he trained at the Miami Air Route Traffic Control Center and completed all Federal Aviation Administration training requirements. He is one of only two. operators who have ever achieved a dual certification during the same evaluation. Sergeant Wilson took the initiative to conduct a much needed comprehensive review of the Operator Evalua tion Instruction Manual. Showing his exemplary managerial skills, he tapped technical expertise from more experienced operators needed to collect, write, and edit the material necessary to revise the manual. Sergeant Wilson is involved in coaching junior bowlers and assists in coaching a little league baseball team. Outstanding NCO TSgt. James K. Ganzer, the unit training NCO, was selected as Outstanding Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter. He administers qualification and upgrade training for all squadron personnel. He also schedules the technical and professional military training required to overcome training deficiencies. Additionally, Sergeant Ganzer is responsible for the unit's Weight Management Program, Motorcycle Safety, and the Enlisted Recognition Program. Upon arrival, Sergeant Ganzer was mediocre faced with a problem-laden- , could not supthat training program misthe test squadron's tough port He sion. immediately conducted a staff assistance visit in all sections to identify training deficiencies, then worked with key supervisors to remedy them. All sections now have new or revised training programs that are complete, extensive, and easy to understand. Sergeant Ganzer's abilities to manage the squadron training program was described as "outstanding" o ip on fed 0 by the recent base OJT inspection team. Sergeant Ganzer teaches outdoor skills to local Boy Scout Troops. Outstanding Airman SrA. Theodore B. Harp, an engineering assistant specialist, was selected as Outstanding Airman of the Quarter. He is responsible for radar evaluation site surveying and drafting. During site radar evaluations, he obtains the MSgt. Gary distances, angle, azimuths, and elevations of all objects on the horizon necessary to determine ' loss of radar coverage. Airman Harp's technical skill and professional qualities have allowed him to make significant contributions to the unit's mission. During this quarter, Airman Harp collected and reduced survey data at four sites, R. Wilson 1 three of which were at overseas locations. For his efforts at one of the sites, Airman Harp received a letter ' I TSgt. James K. Ganzer of appreciation from the Engineering Center in Lake and Installation ' La. Charles, He is also a member of the Hill AFB Disaster Preparedness Support Team. Airman Harp is an outstanding airman who combines a rare blend of technical expertise and leadership with superior military bearing. Airman Harp strongly supports the squadron sports program as a representative on the intramural golf and football teams. He is also the starting pitcher on the baseball team. . lu.o. SrA. Theodore B.
