Morgan, who transferred to the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. Colonel Nowak was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., where he graduated from Catholic Central High School. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in sociology and political science from Aquinas College of Grand Rapids, Mich., and a master's degree in management from the University of California. He is a graduate of Squadron Officer School, Air Command and Staff College, Armed Forces Staff College and the Industrial College of the Air Force. Colonel Nowak entered the Air Force via Officer Training School in June 1963. Colonel Nowak's next assignments were to Williams AFB, Ariz.; Custer AFB, Mich.; Cam Ranh Bay AB, Republic of Vietnam; Richards-Gebau- r AFB, Mo.; McChord AFB, Wash.; Hickam AFB, Hawaii; and then Head- quarters USAF, Washington, D.C. After attending the Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Va., he was assigned to the 388th Tactical Fighter Wing at Hill AFB in February 1978 during its initial 6 transition. He commanded the Avionics Maintenance Squadron, the Component Repair Squadron, and the Aircraft Generation Squadron. He completed his tour with the wing as Assistant Deputy Commander for Maintenance. Colonel Nowak's military decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal, and the HumaniF-1- 6. F-1- tarian Service Medal. Colonel Nowak is married to the former Maureen K. Henry of West Olive, Mich. They have five children: Kimberly, Susan, John, Michael, and Lynn.
