John Evans police blotter 2849th Security Police Squadron New investigations The following incidents were all recorded from the Security Police blotter July 9 and involve property thefts that were in both secured and unsecured areas on Hill AFB. A government calculator valued at $154 was stolen from a desk drawer left unsecured in Bldg. 225 July 13. On the same day, a garbage can disappeared from the west side of Bldg. 454. A purse was stolen from a closet in Bldg. 100 July 13-1- and was later found in a trash can with $15 in 16 cash missing. A parka valued at $80 was stolen from a work area in Bldg. 45 the same day. Work areas on base were not the only places where thieves left their mark. A lawn sprinkler valued at $60 was stolen from quarters on Saratoga Street in Patriot Hills housing July 17. Vandalism A door was broken on Constitution Street by individuals who attempted unsuccessfully to gain entry into the quarters. Damage to the door was estimated at $50. A military member discovered that eggs had been thrown on his car parked on the west side of Bldg. 1234. Anyone having information that could assist in investigating these incidents are asked to call the Security Police Investigation Section. Alcohol abuse A military member was apprehended for public intoxication and disorderly conduct at Bldg. 431 July 13. An intoxilyzer test recorded a blood alcohol content of .22 percent. A report was completed and the airman released to his unit. The odor of alcohol was detected and an intoxilyzer test recorded a blood alcohol content of .10 percent. A magistrate court appearance was set for Aug. 15 on the charges. Riverdale police apprehended a military member off base for drinking and driving July 14. An intoxilyzer test recorded the airman's blood alcohol content at .25 percent. He was booked into the Weber County Jail where bail was set at $556. A civilian visiting the base was observed driving in an unsafe manner on 11th Street by a police patrol July 18. The odor of alcohol was detected, but the individual declined to consent to a chemical test. The individual was charged with drinking and driving and a magistrate court appearance was set for Aug. 15. Another civilian visitor was apprehended on 11th Street the same day for drinking and driving. A security police patrol observed an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. An intoxilyzer test recorded a blood alcohol content of .13 percent. A magistrate court appearance was set for Aug. 15. Jail check: A check with the Weber and Davis County Jails revealed two military members had been arrested off base during the past week for drinking and driving. Bail was set at $556 for each airman. Greathouse honored Don E. Greathouse, 2849th Security Police Squadron Security Specialist, has been selected as one of 15 winners of the Air Force 1983 Security Police Awards Program. Mr. Greathouse received a Sustained Superior Performance Award for the year ending Jan. 30, 1983, for "his tireless, dedicated, conscientious, precise, and outstanding efforts" in applying infor--- , w mation security stand ards at Hill AFB. A concerned citizen reported the incident to security police which made the apprehension possible. The airman was released to his unit and a report was completed. A retired military member was apprehended at the base exchange July 17 for shoplifting. A store employee observed the member leaving the store without paying for a pair of new shoes he had been trying on.
