Show TOP TIMES Friday, January 13, 1984 HILL news briefs 7 New AFLC directorate Air Force Logistics Command has established a Directorate of Acquisition Logistics within the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Materiel Management at AFLC headquarters, Wright-Patterso- n AFB, Ohio. The action followed the recent organization of a joint AFLC and Air Force Systems Command Air Force Acquisition Logistics Center at Wright-Patterso- n AFB. It is another step in streamlining AFLC organizations to support Air Force weapon systems." The directorate will integrate acquisition logistics policy with other logistics policy functions at AFLC headquarters. The new directorate consists of two divisions: the Acquisition Policy and Programs Division, made up of the Policy and Engineering Analysis Branch and the Programs Branch; and the Provisioning and Engineering Data Division, consisting of the Provisioning Policy Branch and the Engineering Data Branch. Contact Terry Brown, Ext. 72710, for more information. The cycle 84C9 chief master sergeant evaluation board selected 891 senior master sergeants for promotion to chief. The board selected 16.2 percent of 5,484 eligible senior master sergeants for promotion. The large number of eligible senior master sergeants is the result of the current high retention rate for members in that grade. Those selected will be promoted from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 1984. The average board score for selectees was 402.3, while the average weighted factors score was 287.3. (AFNS) Barry honored airmen Outstanding Twelve airmen selected as finalists for the title of Air Force Logistics Command Outstanding Airmen of the Year will be guests of Gen. James P. Mullins, commander, Air Force Logistics Command, at a banquet in the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterso- n AFB, Ohio, Feb. 9. The announcement of the three winners who will be the AFLC Outstanding Airmen of the Year and who will compete in the Air Force competition will be made at that time. The final selection board will meet at AFLC headquarters Feb. 8 to interview the 12 finalists. from the top four nominees in each will be announced by General Mullins at category the banquet. Irene Barry, who served as chief of the Noncommissioned Officers' Professional Military Branch and held a number of voluntary positions during her tour at Edwards -- AFB, Calif.' from August 1980 to December 1982. Sergeant Barry was transferred to Hill AFB in November 1982, and less than two months later, she and her husband, MSgt. James Barry, were killed in an auto accident." ' Barry Hall, the 6510th Air Base Group dormitory, is the first dorm at Edwards named in honor of an Air Force individual. During the recent dedication ceremony at Edwards, Sergeant Barry was also posthumously awarded ;the Meritorious Service Medal for her outstanding professionalism.
