Show Page HILLTOP TIMES 4 July 11, 1980 Motor fuel consumption at Hill AFB through the end of June was down 6.1 percent below the base's quarterly allocation. According to Lamont Shupe, Base Energy Monitor, the base is doing very well with energy conservation and use of motor fuels. He said at the end of the three-mont- h period which ended June 26, the base was 17,074 gallons below allocation for motor fuels. The motor fuels report showed a 6.3 percent decrease in the use of MOGAS and a 4.7 percent decrease in the use of diesel fuel. Shupe said one reason for reduction of MOGAS is the changeover for forklifts to propane in the Air Freight Terminal. ' Since conversion of forklifts to propane, approximately 3,100 gallons of propane has been used in the terminal operation and a savings of $1,870 had been realized in difference of cost of the two fuels. James D. Lykins, Petroleum Branch, Depot Supply Division, said performance from the Weiiteir propane forklifts has been good. Sherlock Ohms invites MSgt. Victor J. Rasky, 1881st Communication' Squadron, to call Ext. 7321 prior to 4 p.m. Monday and claim his energy prize. Fuel usage for Prime Beef and the reserve exercise on base are being supported adequately with no adverse situations due to the energy conservation programs, Shupe said. Sherlock Ohms said that his energy conservation assistants have been monitoring buildings for energy conservation violations and during the .two months of May and June, ten citations were writtetj for windows open with heat on and lights on in unoccupied rooms. The following is a poem taken from the writings of Sherlock Ohms: If energy consumption increases Then energy availability ceases If energy usage slacks Then Ohms will get off all your backs.
