Assisting Scoville in the Viking battery again is returning return-ing catcher Cami Morrill, a junior fresh from Region Six girls' basketball action. Morrill was a starting catcher for Pleasant Grove last spring. Another key player back is Whitnie Winger, who had crunched several extra-base hits last season to pace the Vikings to a trip to state, where -they finished in the top 10. Although Wilson brings with him an entirely new coaching staff, its members are ones with whom the Vikings are already familiar. Helping him prepare Pleasant Grove for state this year are Darold McDade, Steve Francom, Tabitha Kennedy and Chelsea Williams. If the weather is cooperative, the Vikings will open their season sea-son at home against the Union Cougars, a longtime 3-A powerhouse power-house from Region 10. Pleasant Grove has scheduled non-league non-league games with the Olympus Titans and the Orem Tigers. Even if Mother Nature wipes out the Vikings' preseason schedule, they are tentatively scheduled to open Region Six play against Payson on March 14. The Vikings will then travel to Spanish Fork on March 16 and Springville on March 21. They'll next have home games with the Lone Peak Knights on March 23 and Timpview on March 28. Pleasant Grove will travel to American Fork on March 30, to Provo on April 4, and to Payson on April 6. Pleasant Grove will host Spanish Fork on April 11 and Springville on April 18. "We're going to have to play our best. If we play hard, but yet lose, I won't feel bad. If we play garbage, I'll be upset." Because of the UHSAA bylaws limiting soccer games to 14 annually and Region Six's size, the Vikings won't have a chance to play non-league foes in order to work out kinks before the commencement of league play.
