The couple will exchange vows in the Mount Timpanogos LDS Temple on Thursday, March 2. The newlyweds will be honored hon-ored at a reception that same evening from 7 to 9 at the Alpine Art Center, 250 S. Alpine Highway. The bride-to-be is a graduate gradu-ate of Pleasant Grove High School and LDS Seminary. She has attended Ricks College. She is a student at Utah Valley State College. The prospective groom is a graduate of Pleasant Grove . I. . i .1 Jackie Bowen Kasey Chesnut High School and LDS Seminary. He served in the Eugene, Oregon LDS Mission. He is also attending Utah Valley State College. The couple will make their first home in Pleasant Grove. PGHS student Spencer Box earns 1st place in carpentry competition Spencer Box, a senior at Pleasant Grove High School, recently competed in the UVSC Skills USA-VICCA competition. competi-tion. He competed against three school districts in the carpentry carpen-try level for high school students. stu-dents. He was required to build a miniature frame house from plans given to them at the beginning of the competition. Box took first place in the competition com-petition and will represent this area at the State competition on April 13-14 in Salt Lake City. Box is enrolled in the Building Youth Institute Program where selected youth build an entire home during the school year. The home they are currently building is located locat-ed in American Fork. Former PG residents, Jim and Lorna Hall celebrate 50th Anniversary in St George By Kalyn Secretan Two former Pleasant Grove residents, Jim and Lorna Hall, celebrated their Golden Anniversary recently in St. George amidst their children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren great-grandchildren at the Steheli Catering in West Washington. Many residents from Pleasant Grove also traveled south to join family and friends for the event. The open house was held in a barn style building where guests could see mementos from the lives of Jim and Lorna including a beautiful quilt and scrap book made by the kids for the celebration. The couple met in Star Valley, Wyo., and married on Feb. 19 in 1950. They have 10 children, 41 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. All of the grandchildren and great grandchildren participated participat-ed on the program. It was a delightful evening with Michael Hall telling about his father's life story and Eileen White telling about her Mom's life story. Some of the folks seen from Pleasant Grove included Norma and Lyman Neilson, Angie and Neil Phillips, Jack and Joyce Phillips, Ralph and Marilyn Phillips, Jack and Darlene Pace, Glade and Myrtle Hilton, John Hilton, Leonard and Loretta Carter, Don and Pat Hardman, Jerry and Lil Wadley, Gene and Darne Carter, Alvin and Bev Yocum and Margaret and Ben Miller. Former neighbors Jack and Rhonda Taylor now of St. George were also in attendance. mtrdducin Heidi A. Her practice specializes in disorders of the ears, nose, and throat for pediatric and adult patients. Dr. Heras graduated from the University of Utah medical school and completed a surgical internship and Otolaryngology residency at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. During her residency she served as chief resident from 1998-1999. New patients are welcome, and Dr. Heras accepts most insurance plans. The couple will make their first home in Provo. i mmsiiimmy- r m ; I Gina Lemke Robert Ginn Kenneth Nielson celebrates Kenneth (Hogan) Nielson is celebrating his 80th birthday with his family on Wednesday, March 1. . , Kenneth was born and raised in Pleasant Grove, where he still resides. He married Dorothy Turner, also of Pleasant Grove. They will celebrate their 53rd wedding anniversary also on this date. Ken retired from Geneva Steel in 1982.He enjoys gardening garden-ing and raises exotic pheasants. He is the father of four children: chil-dren: Kent Nielson, Kathy Byer and Pam Sidwell, all of Pleasant Grove; and Clint Nielson, deceased. - - Kenneth (Hogan) NieS( Time to register for storytime at Pleasant Grove Library Friday Night at the Library $e By Linda Butler All aboard the Holiday Express. Children from three to five years of age are invited to attend a seven week story time at the Pleasant Grove Library. Children will learn about the holidays we celebrate throughout through-out the year. Story time is once a week and lasts for about 40 minutes. Children will hear stories, make a craft and receive a "homework" assignment. Perents can choose from story-times story-times on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. or 1 p.m. Registration is in process now. The classes begin on March 13. Cost is $3 per child. Friends of the Pleasant Grove Library will host Friday Night at the Library this Friday at 7 p.m. Maridee Killian will be the speaker and the topic will be "Square Foot Gardening." CERT classes set for March Pleasant Grove will again offer CERT training classes in March. Courses have been held previously in August and September. Another course will not be offered probably until August this year. The classes begin March 14 at 7 p.m. and will continue every week for seven weeks. The cost is $25. CERT stands for community emergency response team. Course participants will have limited training in search and rescue, head to toe assessments, assess-ments, disaster preparedness and other emergency skills. The course roster is filling up quickly.
