Show Allen Day Chosen "Serviceman of fionfn" El Sndla The "Serticeman C the month" honors for June at San-dla San-dla Base have been won by Army Specialist Four L. Allen Day. He competed with candidates from all units and services at this joint service Installation to earn the coveted title. Specialist Day is serving his first active military tour of duty at Sandla Base and is a personnel per-sonnel specialist in the Army Personnel Division of Field Command, DASA'sPersonnelDi-rectorate. DASA'sPersonnelDi-rectorate. A native of American Fork, he is the son of Mrs. Elizabeth R. Hyde of that community, and a 1963 graduate of American Fork High School. He majored In physics at Brigham Young University prior to entering the Army trom Salt Lake City in July 1968. The 23 year old servicemen was assigned to Sandla after the completion of his basic training at Fort Ord, California, where be was chosen "Outstanding Trainee." Specialist Day will be honored next week at ceremonies spon sored jointly by officials of the base and the Albuquerque Chamb er of Commerce. Allen Day ial certificate, three day pass, $10 cash, desk set, and exemption exemp-tion from additional duly roster details for one month. He will also be given gifts from local merchants through the courtesy of the Chamber of Commerce. The "Serviceman of the Month" is married to the former Dixie Slagowski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. EarlSlagowski of Mountain Moun-tain View, Wyoming. The couple resides at 801 Coal, S.E., in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Let us watch well our beginnings, begin-nings, and results will manage themselves. Alice C. Clirk Thompson Corier Diss if 76 Alice Elizabeth Clark Thompson Thomp-son Conder, 76, American Fork, died of natural causes in the A-merican A-merican Fork Hospital Monday, July 21. She was born June 22, 1893 in ''ernal, Utah a daughter of Seth B. and Mary Matilda Smith Clark. She married Joseph Benjamin Ben-jamin Thompson July 25, 1912 in Vernal. They were later divorced. She married Ben Conder Con-der in 1939; he died in 1943. She was. a member of the LDS Church. Survivors include sons and daughters, Joseph, Mrs. Harvey (Alice) Keel, Mrs. Eugene (Millie) (Mil-lie) Rogers, aU of American Fork; Mrs. Gail (Mary)Lance, Duchesne County; Mrs. Frank (Rhoda) Keel, Sunnyside, Washington; Wash-ington; Carlos, Orem; Edward, Pleasant Grove; 40 grandchildren; grandchild-ren; 41 great grandchildren; brother bro-ther and sister, Thomas, Myton, Duchesne County; Mrs. Marrion (Millie) Valarida, Turner, Oregon. Ore-gon. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 25 at 11 a.m. in the Anderson and Sons Mortuary Chapel where friends may call Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday one hour prior to ihe services. Burial will be in the American Fork City Cemetery. A politician thinks of the next election; a statesman of the next generation. Joint Funeral Services Mi For r.i roiililiiiyiiaiiij Joint funeral services for La-Mond La-Mond Fotheringham, 65, and his wife, Zinda Mary Lewis Fotheringham Fother-ingham 66, American Fork, were held Friday, July 18, at 11 a.m. in the Anderson and Sons Mortuary Mor-tuary Chapel, American Fork. Mr. Fotheringham died at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Tuesday afternoon of natural causes, and his wife died Wednesday Wed-nesday morning at 10 a.m. at her home also of natural causes. He was born November 15, 1903 in Panquitch, Utah, a son of William Wil-liam and Elvira Riddle Fotheringham. Fother-ingham. She was born August 24, 1902 in Lehi, a daughter of John S. and Susan Adams Lewis. They were married June 14, 1923 in Salt Lake City. Mr. Fotheringham was a retired re-tired employee of Geneva Steel Company, having worked in the maintenance department for several sev-eral years. Both were members of the A-merican A-merican Fork Sixth LDS Ward at the time of their deaths. Surviving Mr. Fotheringham is one brother and one sister, Otto Fotheringham, Povo, and Mrs. Ethel Woodhouse, Payson. Surviving Mrs. Fotheringham is her mother, Mrs. Susan A. Lewis, American Fork.
