Edwards, both of American Fork, recently par-, par-, ticipated in the 10-day amphibious training exercise "Kernel Usher 84-1." 84-1." He is a member of Marine Light Helicopter Squadron 367, Third Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif. During the exercise, the squadron flew in support of the 17th Marine Amphibious Unit's Ground Combat Element. Flying Bell AH-U "Cobra" attack helicopters and Bell UH-1N "Huey" utility helicopters, they conducted airborne control of U.S. Naval and Marine attack and fighterbomber aircraft, Naval gunfire and artillery, ar-tillery, provided armed escort for troop transport helicopters, in-close fleet defense for Naval vessels, and close-in fife support foreground element forces. They also flew missions of . resupply, reconnaissance insertion and extraction, emergency medical evacuation and search and rescue operations.
