Golfers tee off against cancer in Saturday contest Swing away on Saturday, Aug. 13 at your favorite golf course and gain the satisfaction of knowing you have supported a life-saving cause. Since 1969 the Virginia Whitney Golf Contest has been held every year at all Utah golf courses and the monies raised are used to sponsor screening projects for the detection of breast, uterine and colorectal colo-rectal cancer. Virginia Whitney was a courageous Utah woman who fought a losing battle against cancer. She was also an avid golfer. A close friend, Barbara (Mrs. F. Seaton) Prince with the help of Charles R. Smart, M.D., initiated the Virginia Whitney Cancer Detection Project as a memorial to Virginia.
