In Japanese, Sachiko means happiness, and this she certainly has brought to her American parents, Larry and Sammie Richins. : While in Japan, Sachiko belonged to the English Speaking Society. Her favorite subjects at American Fork High School are clothing, English and seminary. Sachiko enjoys playing the piano, 'vhich sh will do for her talent presentation. She will play a Japanese number entitled "Kirakiri Boshi." She also enjoys drawing, sewing and arts and crafts. Sachiko's desire is for her country and America to understand each other better. She would like to become an interpretor. Glenna M'Li Nielson Glenna M'Li Nielson, the daughter of Frederick and Patty Nielson, 311 So. Pineview, Alpine, is in the race of Alpine Junior Miss. M'Li, as she prefers to be called, is planning to sing a song, "It's A Hard Knock Life," for her talent if M I it MICHELLE ZIMMERMAN sews the final stitches into her velcro waUet in preparation for the All-School Display Night at the American Fork Junior High tonight. Jr. High prepares all-school display By SHARON MORREY Every department at the American Fork Junior High has been busy readying items that show off their skill and talent for the All-School All-School Display taking place this evening, May 12 from 6:30 until 9. Students from home economics to drama, physical education to geography have prepared skits, wallets, musical numbers, artwork and essay pieces for display before their peers, parents and interested townspeople. Virtually every student in the school will have something to see. Items are set up during the early afternoon Thursday and will be judged before the doors open in the evening. Displays can be seen then in the large and small gymnasiums with a special multi-media project to be shown in the lunchroom area. Drama class members will share their talents from the auditorium each half hour of the evening performing per-forming a play under the direction of Dave Johnson. Mrs. Helquist's orchestra group is slated for 6:30, Mr. Cameron's band to perform at 7 p.m., and Mrs. Scott's dance group at 7:30 p.m. in the orchestra room. Also featured will be a special bake sale to help raise air fare for six of the winners in the State History Fair to attend the national competition in Maryland. All are invited to drop by and participate in this all-school effort. She also plays the guitar and the violin. . In high school she has been on the honor Roll and the track team. Of her many favorite sports, track, swimming, racquetball and horseback riding are the ones she enjoys the most. M'Li has participated in many civic, church and seminary positions. Her future desire is to eventually become a stewardess or a beautician. She would like to attend Utah Technical College. Marianne Lynette Oliver Marianne Lynette Oliver of 123 West 150 North, Alpine, is a contender con-tender for the Alpine Junior Miss crown. For her talent presentation she plans to sing a song, "The Im possible Dream." Her accompanist will be Annette Peterson. Marianne is the daughter of Fred and Olivia Oliver. She enjoys all sports, one of which is tennis, where she placed second in a doubles match. She likes to sew, cook and loves to eat. Additional interests are drama, dancing and music. Her career ambition is to teach elementary school. Her favorite subject is psychology. Her future is to attend Snow College. Lisa Kay Peterson Miss Lisa Kay Peterson, the daughter of Lloyd and Janet Peterson, 1325 North Fort Canyon Road, Alpine, is planning to display her skills at the Alpine Junior Miss Pageant. She will play the piano, and the number she has chosen is "Canadian Sunset." She has been in activities such as 4-H Club, second attendant to a rodeo queen and has participated in the Flag and Rifle Corps. Lisa loves most sports, such as racquetball, softball, basketball and horseback riding. She also enjoys sewing and playing the clarinet. She has been on the honor roll several times since the ninth grade. She would like to attend Ricks College where she will study nursing. nur-sing. Kimberli Peterson Kimberli (Kim) Peterson is entering en-tering the race for Alpine Junior Miss. Her parents are David and Betty Peterson, 1176 North Orchard Lane, Alpine. Her ambition is to enter the medical profession. Kim enjoys sports and just the plain outdoors. She loves putting together scrap books, histories, poems and stories. She loves animals and hopes to one day own a golden retriever. Her activities consist of playing on a soccer team, helping with community service projects and is active in her church. For her talent, she plans a vocal rendition of Barbra Striesand's "How Lucky Can You Get." After graduation, she will attend the University of Utah. Lynette Walker Competing for 1983 Alpine Junior Miss is Lynette Walker, 431 South Alpine Highway, Alpine, daughter of Sherl and Gladys Walker. For her presentation she plans to play a flute solo. She loves all sports, with favorites in gymnastics and softball. Lynette is very interested in medicine and plans a career in the medical field. High school honors are business achievement, honor roll, homemaking, gymnastics and type. She has participated in parades and helped with city affairs. Her favorite subject is physiology, and after graduation . plans to attend the University of Utah and become a general practitioner prac-titioner and specialize in a certain area. Leah Ngareta Grant Leah Ngareta Grant has entered the competition for Alpine Junior ' Miss. She is the daughter of Colin and June Grant, 1352 North Fork Canyon, Alpine. Her creative talent will be a Scottish dance. She has received many medals for this type of dancing and also for cross country running. Other interests include soccer, horseback riding, and marching in the American Fork Marching Band, where she plays the flute. In the future, she plans to train to become a Radiographer. The college of her choice is BYU. . Her favorite subjects in school have been health and physiology. . Wendy Cherise Palmer Wendy Cherise Palmer , is throwing in her hat as a contender for the Alpine Junior Miss crown. Her parents are Jim and Shirly Palmer, 816 East Village Way, Alpine. Her accomplishments have been singing in the Madrigal Choir and other community and church functions. For her talent, she will delight all with a vocal solo, "You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile," accompanied by Camille Wilson. Other interests, besides singing, are roller skating, ice skating, water and snow skiing and cooking. Wendy's future ambition is in international relations and tourism.
