The Club Collect was read by Connie Chesnut and Jean Tolton was elected as the new vice president. Wanda May Snow Petersen is well-known in American Fork and elsewhere for her expertise in the writing field. She has also traveled extensively and with the aid of tapes and slides gives an interesting account of her travels. In 1982 Wanda wrote a book, "My Second Estate," an autobiolgraphy. She gave some humorous and interesting in-teresting accounts from the book. According to her: "If I were able to stand aside and look, not only at myself as another individual, but also at my time on the earth, I might be tempted to ask, 'What did . I contribute?' Sam Levenson said every child brings in its fist a unique message which the world needs. I might ask, 'What did I do with my unique message? Was it received by the world? By my town? By my family? By anyone? Did I make the world any better? And, what was happening in the world during my sojourn here?'" The last question is easier to answer than the others, Wanda said: "When I arrived here during the last months of the presidency of William Howard Taft, 27th president of the United States. I lived through two world wars and the Great Depression, and have now seen a time of such affluence as has Johnson assigned to Japan Staff Sgt. Gary M. Johnson, son of Shirley C. I have come face to face with the true meaning of inflation and have witnessed racial problems rampant in my towns and even in my schools. I have come from the horse and buggy era to jet travel and rocket landings on the moon. I have seen three presidents die in office, one violently with a ; wrench that rocked the world. I have noted the panic of nuclear explosions and witnessed upheavals which only the ancient prophets could have foressen. "I have come to realize that America is great but has not always been perfect in dealing with peoples of the world, yet, I love my country with a deep and appreciative devotion." Wanda's philosophy of life is probably the reason she chose to speak of Carrie Jacobs Bond and her music. Carrie Came from a family of musicians and music lovers and was a distant cousin of John Howard Paine, author of "Home Sweet Home." She began playing the piano at age four, and was taught by all the best teachers in her hometown, Janesville, Wise. She met and married. Dr. Frank Lewis Bond and had one son',:Fref. The Bonds moved to Chicago where Carrie interested a large publishing company in selling some of her gay little children's songs. After the accidental death of her husband she began writing songs of the heart. ..songs which grew out of a lonely yearning and of memories. Wanda played tapes of Carrie's best known songs, tapes with Lydia Kirkpatrick at the piano and Milo Lefler singing. The songs were: "Oh Little Pink Rose," "Just a Wearyin' for You," fro the verses written by Frank L. Stanton, "I Love You Truly," and "A Perfect Day."
