American Fork Junior High news American Fork Junior High School held their last legislative council on April 5. The senators and representatives from each homeroom voted on bills that were written to improve our school. . The English Department was in charge of promoting and selling tickets to students who wanted to see "A Midsummer Night's Dream," a Shakespearean play put on by BYU. It was a successful event because of the many students who participated and went. Primaries for the studentbody and class officers were held on the 13th. The students voted on the candidates during first period. Two candidates for each office were chosen. The Election Assembly was held on April 20. Each candidate had to give a one minute speech for their campaign. The candidates were separated into a red party and a white party. They all did very well speaking in front of the whole studentbody. Their speeches helped the students decided who to vote for as their leaders next year. On April 22, the students again voted in their homerooms. These votes determined the winners. That afternoon an Election Dance was held and the new officers were announced. The new officers for 1983-84 are: Darren Warnick as studentbody president; Deanna Smith as studentbody vice president; James McQuivey as program chairman; Angela Adamson as historian; Celisa Wathen as secretary; Sharon Frazier as news announcer; Tara Carnesseca as news reporter. The ninth grade president is Jared Anderson; Kim Watts, vice president; Laura Taylor, program chairman. The teachers elected six students to be stage managers. They are Tom Love, Cooper Wimmer, Jaime Johnson, Angela Carroll, Bryan Rawlings and Mark Magelby. The 12 finalists for sophomore cheerleaders were in a cheerleading assembly on the 29th. Each girl was to do an original cheer that she made up, a school song, and two other cheers which were taught to them by last year's sophomore cheerleaders. The 12 girls who made it past the judges are Angie Snow, Cathy Erickson, Rhonda Cook, Stephanie DuBois, Caralee Hermansen, Cheryl Avina, Susan Miller, Lori Harri, Kristi DuBois, Kortney Carter, Trudy Jarvis and Andrea Glines. The freshman class voted on six girls who they thought would represent their school and class well as cheerleaders. The six new cheerleaders for the next year's sophomore class are Rhonda Cook, Stephanie DuBois, Kortney Carter, Susan Miller, Lori Harr and Kristi DuBois.
