"It started in elementary school. I was friends with Danielle Cheesman, Becca Roberts and Lindsey Henry. You can't help but like basketball when you're around them. My dad also started my interest and was my Jr. Jazz coach." On what she loves most about basketball. "My favorite thing about basketball was my team. You couldn't find a greater group. Everyone on the team is so amazing, amaz-ing, I'm just greatful basketball was able to be the sidenote that brought us together. I love my team." On being named national champions. "I was sad when we dropped to number two, but there wasn't a doubt in my mind that when the final poll came out we would be the champions. This team was to good not to be number num-ber one!! But once it was official, it was amazing, but weird at the same time." On plans for the future. "I'm going to attend Snow College this fall and get my generals done. Then I'm going to transfer up to the University of Utah and major in Bio-Medical Engineering. I want to be a doctor." On basketball role in her plans. "Basketball will always be in my plans! I love to play, and will as much as I can. You can't just stop doing something that's brought you this much happiness." My dad would wake my sister and I up early every morning while I was young ad take us to the church to practice. The drill that I remember best, probably because be-cause I hated it so much, was dribbling drib-bling in ad out of a row of chairs. I thought it was more important to put the ball in the basket. On what she loves most about basketball. "Without a doubt it would be the time I got to spend with the team. We have so much fun together. It's hard to believe that we get anything done in practice." prac-tice." On being named national champions. "I was overwhelmed. My thoughts turned to a motivational motiva-tional speaker that had come and talked to the team before we left for Chicago. He of course motivated moti-vated us to win but also gave a profound thought that I will never forget. 'Good. Better. Best. Never let it rest till the good gets better and the better is best.' Yes, I was overwhelmed but I knew that because be-cause we had never given up we were contenders for the title." On plans for the future. "Ever since I was a little girl I have always liked playing sports. Watching my older brothers play must have sparked something inside of me because ever since I can remember I've been out there playing with them. My dad, grandpa and uncle have really helped me by teaching me how to play and have fun. On what she loves most about basketball. "My favorite thing about basketball is the friendships friend-ships that develop throughout the team. Everyone on our team likes everyone else. Friendships would definitely be my favorite thing about sports." On being named national champions. "I was so excited I wanted to cry. I was speechless because I knew that we earned it but I didn't think it would actually actu-ally happen and it did. I was just so excited that it happened." On plans for the future. "After high school I want tot go to college col-lege on a scholarship to play either ei-ther basketball or softball. Most likely basketball."
