Show A T A 6 Utah Recreation Guide, May 21, 1338 - Page 10 real life p stage .J, w The 14th annual production of Utah Pageant of the Arts will be full of nostalgia, plus many exciting new selections, including both sides of the newly minted Lady Liberty silver dollar. The unique production is based on the French "tableau vivant" or living pictures, and is themed this year to "Fine art brought to real life on stage." The Pageant is one of Utah's most popular art's events. Utah Pageant of the Arts, which is one of two such productions in the United States, brings all the elements of fine theater together, blending them in a new and exciting way to produce life-size recreations of paintings, sculpture works, art objects, porcelains, tapestries, shoe buckles and even a postage stamp. Some 300 volunteers from along the Wasatch Front will participate in the cast, which requires about 100 people each performance. Each cast slot is triple cast, with volunteers appearing 11 or 12 performances during the run of the show. . Other volunteers assist in the production, in addition to a small professional staff working year-round year-round on Pageant and expansion arts programs. The Pageant season for 1986 will run from June 9 through July 18, except Sundays and July 4 and 5. Curtain time is 8 p.m. and tickets remain at $9 for center section seats and $7 for side section. Family Night Discounts of $2 off each side section will continue through the run of the show and group rates are also available. The Pageant box office is located at 54 E. Main, in the basement of the American Fork Senior Citizen Center. Office hours are 10 a.m. through 6 p.m. Telephone reservations reser-vations will be accepted at 756-3505. For patron convenience, the box office now accepts Visa or MasterCard credit purchases. The Pageant ticket also includes admission to the Pre-Show Seminars on various phases of the arts, presented each Pageant night at 7 p.m., as well as the Professional and Youth Art Exhibits, the Scholarship Winners Exhibit and the Pageant Guild Gift Boutique. One of the most fascinating scenes will be the "Egyptian Group," including "Making an Offering" and "Cosmetic Spoon Handle" from the magnificent Ramses II Exhibit, .and King Tut's Buckle and The Tomb Wall, from earlier Pageant productions. The grandeur of this ancient culture will be contrasted with the simplicity of the Rockwell Tribute, which in cludes the favorites "Doctor and Doll," "Tom Sawyer Stamp" and the Saturday Evening Post cover "The Mermaid." A new Freedom Tribute will include in-clude "But Not Forgotten," the newly commissioned Vietnam Memorial sculpture work by Utah native Clyde Ross Morgan. Reprised from past productions will be "Old Swimming Hole," "Orpheus," "Prometheus," "Ministering Angel," "Wedgwood Buckles" and the charming "Beginnings," which includes two paintings of little girls preparing for life. Other favorites will be the Hummel Collection and a group of Royal Doulton porcelain figures. Paintings from Mexico, France, Germany and America will be featured and sculpture works of contemporary and masterpiece artists will be among Pageant selections for this season. Utah Pageant of the Arts looks back on years of growth and achievement, with loyal patrons throughout the United States and from many foreign countries. The show is planned to be both entertaining en-tertaining and informative, with patrons learning much about the art of yesterday and today as they view the beauty and strength of fine art brought to real life on stage. "Doctor and Doll," a Saturday Evening Post cover by Norman Rockwell, will be recreated again for the 1986 show. Douglas E. Nicholes and Amanda Bodell appeared in the 1982 production.
