New this year is the Saratoga Raceway, featuring the International In-ternational Sand Drag Association sand drags. Major races will be held every month beginning June 7 and 8, July 12 and 13, August 1, 2, and 3 and Sept. 6 and 7. Also planned on alternate weekends will be Mud Bogs. Saratoga opens Memorial Day weekend The grand opening for Saratoga Resort will be Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 24, and the resort will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m through Labor Day. Saratoga Road has been repaired and raised four feet by the county and any rising of Utah Lake will not affect the main road to Saratoga. At Saratoga you will find the secluded, peaceful atmosphere of a small country park.. Saratoga is surrounding by the towering, majestic Wasatch Mountains, and is situated on the shores of Utah Lake. Saratoga is famous for swimming, boating, water skiing, overnight camping and other recreational interests. You will find yourself relaxing on the cool green lawns or enjoying an invigorating swim in the four sparkling, natural warm spring pools. Or perhaps you will prefer the excitement of the 350 foot long "Kamikazi" water slide, the go karts and the kiddieland rides, or a leisurely game of miniature golf, all of which are available at Saratoga. Covered pavilions may be July is the month of Steel Days. This is the celebration of American Fork and surrounding communities. Originally it was started to honor Geneva Steel and the part it played in the life of American Fork, and through the years this honor has co'ntinued. This celebration is for people of all ages. From pitching horseshoes, to horse races. The carnival is a delight to the children, especially when ride tickets can b e purchased through the merchants at a discount. The parade which closes out the celebration on Saturday is always one of the finest in the state. This year the celebration promises to be one of the best. To kick it off, the Kiwanis Club will hold its annual breakfast, and what a breakfast it is. The flag raising ceremony to start the celebration is one to stir the emotions. An honor guard raises old glory and while it flutters in the morning breeze, an outstanding citizen comments on the glory of the flag and how proud we should be of our American heritage. On Saturday night, to close out the celebration, the Variety Show is presented. The finest talent available always makes this show a success. In addition, a drawing is held for a fun vacation for the lucky winner. Committees have been formed and a kickoff meeting held. Curt and Bonnie Brinkman are co-chairman. co-chairman. Child will learn breathing and floating skills. 2. Angelfish. Same age group as above, but the child should have learned breath control, kicking skills, arm movement, end is relaxed In water. B. 4 to 5 Yean Inexperienced swimmers that fall into that age category. C. Beginners: Children who are older than 4 to 5 years. Height Is a consideration D. Intermediate Beginner To enter this class, children are required to float front and back, and be over any fear of water. Class includes Instruction In strokes (crawl and elementary back). E. Advanced Beginner: Children in this class will swim in 12 feet of water. They are required to have mastered side-breathing side-breathing during the crawl stroke. In addition, addi-tion, a child must be able to do the crawl stroke 25 yards and the elementary back stroke 25 yards. F. Swimmers: Children are required to do the crawl stroke SO yards, the elementary back stroke SO yards, and the traditional back stroke SO yards. Clasasa are limited to eight (B). NOTE: Additional Instruction is available by arrangement in Ladies Exer-Swlm, Life Saving (Jr. and Srj, Cub and Boy Scout Swimming.
