Concerned about medical care for these women, Dr. James Breen, the president of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) said, "Many physicians are not prepared to deal with the elderly patient." Breen claims that during medical training, gynecologists have little contact with elderly women. "Residents and students are more inclined to think of the elderly patient in terms of the 70 year old widow who they saw with terminal cancer than the 70 year old widow who is planning to be remarried and would like sexual counseling." Dr. Richard Hebertson, Chairman Chair-man of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Latter Day Saints Sain-ts Hospital in Salt Lake City, said, "There is little medical literature on this topic, even though these women will comprise a significant portion of future medical practice." Dr. Hebertson said, "We are encouraging en-couraging women to begin weight control and physical fitness programs before they reach their later years. We also are seeing a need for programs which will improve im-prove women's self-esteem and ability to evaluate their own social and medical needs." The hospital can be a frightening place for children, but proper knowledge goes a long way towards relieving fears. To assure children that the hospital is beneficial, not a scarey place, Utah Valley Hospital schedules tours for kindergarten and grade school classes, vouth clubs, and even large families. Linda Larsen of Orem, a cub scout den mother of three years, recently took a hospital tour with her eight- and nine-year-old scouts who were working towards a "survival" merit badge and their "bear" certification. Most of the boys haa never been inside a hospital before, so their tour included the blood bank, emergency ' center, x-ray area, nursery, central processing and distribution, dietary department, medical library and other smaller areas. When asked what they learned, the boys replied that they learned how we take care of people and that they hope they don't have to come here.
