Compton, research historian Part City Museum In an effort to sell more gasoline to motorists, an enterprising businessman painted "Last Chance" on the roof of his service ser-vice station, which was located in Parley's Canyon just south of the Mountain Dell Golf Course. He exaggerated, since gasoline was readily available Just nine miles away at Kimball Junction. The restaurant next to the service station, featuring fea-turing home cooked meals, was officially known as Parley's Canyon Cafe, but many called it Half Way Cafe. The words on the service station ended up being prophetic in 1S69 when plans to widen Interstate 80 brought an end to the Last Chance and it was demolished. The cafe received a reprieve and another chance in November 1389 when long-time Parkite Bud Gasparac acquired the building and generously donated It to Park City. The city paid $500 to have It moved 15 miles to the north end of the new City Park on Park Avenue. Volunteers remodeled the sturdy Bttle building and It provided pro-vided refreshments, rest rooms and storage space for 17 years. It was replaced by the new recreation center fan 1888.
